You can also easily reach us from the airport by bus and train.
Just a few minutes from public transport:
the railway station “Merkaz HaShmona” – 350 m, 4 minutes walk
Merkaz Hashmona (Central) station
The name of this station may imply that it is located in the center of Haifa, but in fact the title is largely historical. The train station is located on the coastal line of Haifa, next to the downtown area. Here you’ll find some central municipality buildings and offices (such as Kiryat HaMemshala), as well as some shopping, dining and some pretty great pubs and bars.
Metronit station “Merkaz Rakevet”
160 m, 3 minutes walk
Line 1 – from station “Merkazit Hof HaCarmel” to “Merkazit HaKrayot”
Line 2 – from station “Rakevet Bat Galim” to “Kiryat Ata”
The Metronit is a new and technologically advanced transit system in Haifa. The Metronit, or the Bus Rapid Transit, is unique from 2 aspects: the vehicles of the Metronit are new, spacious, progressive and have hybrid engines, making the ride more comfortable and more efficient. The Metronit has special routes and driving lanes which makes the ride faster and the schedule more reliable. Payment for the Metronit is made in advance at special electronic ticketing stations and not on the vehicle.
Bus station “Rakevet Merkaz”
190 m, 3 minutes walk
Lines: 24 – Haifa University, 16 – Neve Sha’anan , Technion University, 3 – Carmel Center, 112 – Hof HaCarmel station, 16 – HaMefratz station
Buses constitute a great way to get to different areas of the city in an inexpensive way. Haifa’s bus system is well organized and had been recently updated for a more convenient and efficient ride. Plus- there are buses almost 24/7 (Yes- including weekends and late night buses!).
Carmelit subway – from Carmel Center to Downtown
400m, 5 minutes walk
This is one of Haifa’s gems and a unique tourist attraction, in addition to being an efficient and punctual means of transportation.
The Carmelit is basically Haifa’s subway system. It has six stations which connect three major centers in Haifa: Downtown, Hadar and Carmel center. The ride in the Carmelit is really short- (no longer than 8 minutes) and there are never traffic issues.
A monit sherut is basically an 8 to 10 passanger minivan that serves as a shared taxi. There are 2 types of Monit sherut in Haifa- those that travel within Haifa and those that connect Haifa to other cities.
A non-shared taxi will be able to get you from your location to your destination without making any stops.
The prices are usually 35 shekells and up, depending on your destination, time of travel (weekend and night travel has higher rates) and the company you order your taxi from.
It is also possible to book a taxi service to Ben Gurion Airport and Tel Aviv.
